THIS IS WHO I AM

THIS IS WHO I AM

Love me for who I am
Not what you think I should be,
Try to accept my compassion
And to see the things that I see.
I know you think I should have learned
That things are not what they appear.
That others are cruel and nasty at times
And that life is often not clear.

Please accept that I feel things deeply
And that bitter tears are often mine,
Accept the care that I offer to all,
And in the end I will be fine.
Love me when I am difficult
For that's when I need you most of all,
Accept that I love all people
And all creatures great and small.

Although you may not understand me
Just accept me and give me your trust,
This is who I am and I cannot change,
I want to go on and I must.
I know you think I should have learned
And it brings me no surprise,
That what you see before you
Causes you to roll your eyes.

Love me for what I am
Not what you think I should be,
Maybe I have tried to change
And that is a path I can't see.
Walk with me, talk with me
And please let me debrief
I need your care and your listening ear
It is part of my belief.

Love me when I am unlovable
And try to have faith in me.
Remember the children I raised
And others who sat at my knee.
Feel the care that I offer to all
To those both far and near,
Love me when I am unlovable
And try to ease my fear.

I am rolling my eyes, poor John! To be who you are is a gift, to never change for others take courage and to like yourself enough to do so takes conviction.
Thank you for remaining you and for sharing these private thoughts.
