MEMORIES IN THE HEART
It seems the heart remembers
And can recall so much,
A smile, a fragrance
A special tender touch.
It seems the heart remembers
The warmth of summer days,
Springtime daffodils and roses
A firesides comforting blaze.
It seems the heart remembers
Faces now long gone,
Beautiful songs and laughter
And a special setting sun.
It seems the heart remembers
Quiet and companionable hours
The sparkle on the water
And sudden summer showers.
It seems the heart remembers
The autumn shadows length,
The struggle to cope with things
And suddenly finding strength.
It seems the heart remembers
All this and so much more
It seems the heart remembers
And gently opens the door.
