WALK WITH ME

WALK WITH ME

Come with me and walk a while
Down a sweet and shaded lane
Let's spend time together
Like sunshine after rain.

Let's take in all the beauty
Of this pretty shaded bower,
We will hear the sweetest bird song
And smell the fragrance of the flower.

We will sit a while and ponder
As good friends often do,
About the times we've spent together
And the plans we hold brand new.

We'll talk about the children grown
And about their baby days
About the times they ran so freely
And their knees held many a graze.

Let's talk about the pain we've felt ~
The struggles we've been through
We will talk about the joy we felt
When life began anew.

We'll share the times when we felt lost
And fear became our friend
How that the sun was shining
Just around the bend.

The comfort that our friendship brought
When days were cold and grey
How that we lifted each other up
And helped along the way.

There will be laughter here
And also tears of sadness,
But over all of that will be
The blessed tears of gladness.

We will gently sit in silence
And let Nature do her part
In bringing joy and comfort
To a tender, fragile heart.

Walk with me in nature
Gather strength right to the end
We shall cherish hours together
And share the joy my friend.

WAKING MY MUSE

WAKING MY MUSE

Feelings buried deeply
So none could see the pain,
I walked in quiet solitude
In days of sun and rain.

Few tears I shed in silence
Knowing there were more
I locked up my emotion
Behind my heart's door.

The music didn't play for me
Nor could I even dance,
Lucky to be alive
Given a second chance.

I tried so very hard to write
But rarely would it flow,
I thought it was all gone forever
Little did I know.

A sleeping beast inside me
A heart with much to learn,
I am writing once again
The tide's about to turn.

You came into my life
And woke the sleeping muse,
The timing and the distance
Nothing I could choose.

Thank you for the music,
The love and tender care
It touches me to realize
That so much of me's still there.

So when the moonbeams kiss the ocean
And the day comes to its end,
I thank you and I love you,
My very special friend.

A PERFUMED CANDLE

A PERFUMED CANDLE

Your friendship was a candle
Which shone upon my way,
You showed your care for me
As I wandered through my day.

A light of tender wisdom
Which fluttered in the breeze,
The gentle glow of companionship
On spring days such as these.

The fragrance of your kindness
Perfumed my life it’s true,
Reminding me you were special
And that I could count on you.

The flame burned strong
And often guided me.
Surrounded by the fragrance
You were friend to me.

The time moved on
And the flame burned low,
My heart was sore
As I watched you go.

The candle now small
The warmth now gone
No more light from you
But the fragrance lingers on.

PRECIOUS MOMENTS

PRECIOUS MOMENTS

Precious moments frozen in time
And etched in my very heart.
How different it is looking back
From how it looked at the start.

Memories of laughter and fun
Golden times and flowers
Discussions and debates
And many happy hours.

Downy hair and baby skin ~
A cry on the morning air,
Practical things done for me
Told me of your care.

Those cute funny phrases ~
The things that they did,
The games they played
And the things they hid.

Meeting new friends
And saying goodbye
Trying to understand
Not knowing why.

Christmas and holidays
Time on my own
Looking around me
Seeing them grown.

Diamonds and dewdrops
Sunshine and smiles
You alongside me
As I walked weary miles.

Friendship and family
Such joy they are bringing
With these in my heart

THANK YOU

THANK YOU

Thank you for the love you’ve shown,
The tenderness and care.
The very many happy hours
When time and hours you share.
Thank you for the kindness
Your smile and tender touch.
All the lovely things you do
Are valued very much.

You always make me welcome
With a chat and cup of tea,
You are very special
And very important to me.
You show your care for others
In very many ways ~
Your friendship is treasured
And brings light unto my days.

Thank you for who I am
When I spend time with you.
You help me see that days are fair,
And friends are kind and true.
Thank you for being there
And for your kindly listening ear,
For helping me to overcome
The things that bring me fear.

I think about those sheltered times
And the hours we have shared,
I remember very well indeed
Knowing that you cared.
I hope that I can be there for you
When you need someone near
I hope that I am able to dispel
The depth of all your fear.

FRIENDSHIP THOUGHTS

FRIENDSHIP THOUGHTS.

Talk to me of friendship
And special love and care
Tell me of the laughter
And the good times we can share.

Let me hear you whisper
That you are here for me
That you will walk beside me
When the path I cannot see.

Sing to me of companionship
And the warmth that friendship brings
Let me walk beside you
Let our love take wings.

Comfort me when I am sad
And call me on the phone
Let me feel your very presence
So I know I'm not alone.,

Hear my many worries
And my feeble call
Let me know that you will be there
To lift me when I fall.

Please know that I value you
And all you say and do.,
How very much I cherish
Your special friendship true.

Listen to my secrets
And neither laugh nor scold
Promise me that we'll be together
When we are very old.

We'll watch the sun go down together
And remember our youthful days
We will cherish our special friendship
And the joy it brought to our days.

THE LAST ROSE OF SUMMER

THE LAST ROSE OF SUMMER

A long hot summer now is fading
And chill is in the air
I walked today in my garden
And saw changes everywhere.

A sweet and fragrant rose
Dropped its petals as I passed
The beauty now has faded
Of course it could not last.

I touched the velvet petals
And somehow thought of you
I sensed your time of struggle
The effort to get through.

Keep your eyes upon the hedgerow
And not the thorns below
And you will see the rose
You will watch it grow.

You will smell the sweet perfume
It's petals you will touch
Just know that friends are out here
And that they care so much.

COMFORT

COMFORT

Nothing soothes a troubled soul
Like a friend who has known trouble,
Who has also seen their life shattered
And stood among the rubble.

Nothing warms a troubled heart
Like a friend who has also cried,
Who has also seen the walls tumble down
No matter how hard she tried.

Nothing calms a troubled mind
Like a friend who has walked the walk,
Travelled long distances with you
And also talked the talk.

Nothing restores a damaged heart
Like a friend whose dragons are slain,
Who will help you slay your own
And lift you to your feet again.

Nothing brings joy to a loving heart
Than a heart prepared to share,
To feel your pain and walk with you
And willingly show their care.

It is true I’ve found
In this world of froth and bubble ~
Nothing soothes a troubled soul
Like a friend who has known trouble.
