BECAUSE LIFE NEEDS AN ANCHOR

BECAUSE LIFE NEEDS AN ANCHOR
Because life needs an anchor
This promise I'll make
To stand right beside you
Should your world start to shake.
I promise to be there
When strong billows roll,
To hold you so gently
When life takes it's toll.

Because life needs an anchor
That anchor I'll be
I'll hold tight to your hand
As you're tossed on the sea.
I promise to listen
And hear of your pain
As the anchor rope tightens
And then starts to strain.

Because life needs an anchor
When winds start to moan,
I promise you comfort
As we listen to it groan.
I promise you victory
As you hold on to my hand
Because life needs an anchor,
Buried deep in the sand.

Because life needs an anchor
Should your boat begin to drift
I promise you safe harbour
When the sands of life shift.
I will light the stars for you
In a black and velvet sky
I promise you a safe journey
As the days of life go by.

Because life needs an anchor
A chart and compass too
Together let's take the journey
And view the horizon new.
Hear the lapping of the water
As the tides of life rise and fall
View the soaring of the sea birds
And hear their plaintive call.

Because life needs an anchor
Let's journey on together
With the salt sea mist on our faces
In fair and squally weather.
Three things to hold on to
Are love, hope and trust
Because life needs an anchor
Onward, together we must.

Because life needs an anchor
And a harbour in which to rest
I will be the harbour you return to
When life has put you to the test.
I'll ease the fears that beset you
Set you straight and stand you tall,
I will be the anchor of your life,
When your back's against the wall.

Because life needs an anchor.

SAIL WITH ME

SAIL WITH ME

Sail into my safe harbour
And let me shelter you
From the waves that rock your boat ~
Let’s look for skies of blue.

Stay with me until the sea is calm
And the storm is finally past.
Let me give you strength for your voyage ~
A strength that’s sure to last.

When the sun shines again
And the gentle breezes blow,
Set off again in full sail
And let me see you grow.

When your sails are full
And you taste the salt sea spray
Know that I am here for you
On each and every day.

Hold on to the ropes of your dreams
Make sure they serve you well
Enjoy this sail through life ~
Be nurtured by the ocean swell.

Let me share the sparkle
On the water that you sail
Let me take pride in being
The Harbour from which you hail.

When you hear the gentle lapping
As you rest on a quiet shore
Know that my love and care is real ~
I could not love you more.

ANCHOR ME SAFE

ANCHOR ME SAFE

Anchor me safe in your care
When the thunder starts to peal
Comfort and reassure me
For my fear is very real.
Hold me safe in your care
When my little boat is tossed,
When the wind roars
And the rain pours down
It's then I feel so lost.

Find a star to guide us
And a calm harbour full and deep,
Let me scream and vent my anger,
Hold me when I weep.
Steer my boat away from jagged rocks,
And rips that would tear and pull me
Let me rest in the calm aftermath
Open my eyes a new day to see.

Wipe the tears that mingle for me
With the salt sea air of life,
Let your very presence shield me
From all its troubles and strife.
Steer me back to my safe harbour
Let me stand forever more
And watch the endless oceans
From the safety of the shore.

It's been a rough journey for us, I know
And the winds have howled and wailed,
But stronger I am with your support,
Together we have prevailed.
Stand on the shore with me
Let the sand run through our fingers
Healthier days ahead for us,
But oh how the memory lingers.

TURN BACK THE HANDS OF TIME

TURN BACK THE HANDS OF TIME

Oh to turn back the hands of time,
And play with my children again
To walk in the park, dig in the sand
And splash in the puddles of rain.

To listen more keenly to the tales they tell
And to look into their dream filled eyes,
To wonder again at a thunder storm
And to see the world with surprise.

To sit by their bed and soothe their pain
When sickness came their way,
To read them the same old story
Again at the end of the day.

I long to feel the magic of The Tooth Fairy,
And dear Santa's magic spell,
To wonder if the Easter Bunny would visit
Oh the stories we would tell.

I still can look into dream filled eyes
As they soar on eagle wings,
And can see the happiness
That their success can bring.

Each day is a gift and a blessing,
For them as well as for me,
But I remember well the days
When they were children at my knee.
