FAIRY MISTS OF AVALON

FAIRY MISTS OF AVALON

Welcome to the Garden
My home among the flowers,
This is where I spend my time
And while away the hours.

This is where the moon beams play
And diamonds grace the sky,
This is where the leaves fall
And I hear the wind sigh.

The river ripples on it way
And I sit on moss filled banks,
Dusting the flowers
And always giving thanks.

I splash in roses dew kissed
And watch the sunbeams play
The earthy smell of morning
Brings gladness to my day.

I am a caring Fairy
With a heart that’s  filled with care,
When you feel the gentle breezes
You will know that I am there.

I watch over younger fairies
As they learn and grow,
Their pleasant and sweet ways
Bring more joy than you will know.

So when the morning mist drifts
In Avalon’s early dawn,
You will feel my presence
As we face another morn.

I am there with you always
To hold you in my care,
To bring the joy of morning
And freshness everywhere.

I am the Mists of Avalon
With many stories to tell
Of days when Knights lived here –
I remember very well.

I remember Arthur and Guinevere
The Round Table and it’s tales
I remember the lake and Avalon
And I remember Wales.

I recall Morgaine and Lancelot
And the risks that they would take,
I remember the mists of Avalon
And the Lady of the Lake.

THIS MORNING

THIS MORNING

I picked the last rose of summer this morning
From a garden parched and dry.
I saw a rainbow this morning
And heard the seabirds cry.
The wind was cold this morning
Over a pewter coloured sea
I sat by the water’s edge this morning
And some peace it brought to me.

The sky was filled with gulls
And the chilly wind whipped the sand
Seaweed, shells and starfish
Loved ones holding hands.
Early morning adventurers
Jogging at the start of the day
A cheery hello between friends
And then they were on their way.

I observed Nature’s canvas this morning
And the things she was painting for me.
I quietly contemplated this morning
As I sat by the steel grey sea.
There was beauty there this morning
And it brought me some release
My heart somewhat lighter this morning
As I accepted the gift of peace.

NO-ONE EVER MENTIONED

NO ONE EVER MENTIONED

No-one ever mentioned
The beauty I would see
When my life was changed
And a gift was given to me.
I expected many changes ~
Better health and days,
I knew that I would learn
To understand these ways.

No-one ever told me
That tears would fill my eyes
That I would stand in wonder
Beneath the star filled skies.
I never really saw the beauty
Of roses raindrop kissed
I've learned again the wonder
Of standing in the mist.

I saw again the sunset
And once more heard the rain,
Listened to the thunder storms
After days of pain.
No-one ever told me
That I would feel so blessed
That family would be cherished
And friends would be the best.

No-one ever told me
That wonder would fill my heart
And that for me it would be
Like a brand new start
No one ever told me
What joy would fill my soul
I am very glad to discover
The things that make me whole.

TIME TO SAY GOODBYE

TIME TO SAY GOODBYE

I first saw you as a little boy
And held you in my arms,
I was captivated
By the measure of your charms.

You grew and needed me
To help you on your way.
The seasons passed too quickly
And soon had dawned the day.

The day you no longer needed me
To calm and allay your fears,
We had shared laughter and play
Sunshine and tears.

Little boy no longer – now you stand tall
Towering well above me.
Heartsick I realize that I must let you go ~
That I must let you be.

With tears in my eyes
I realize you have gone away.
That you have seen the dawning
Of your final day.

I know that you enjoyed life
And for everyone did your best.
We who loved you most of all
Must finally let you rest.

Roses – how you loved them!
And these my final gift to you,
Fragrant and sweet
And kissed by the morning dew.

I shall always remember you
And my memories will be sweet,
As I walk among the roses
Their petals at my feet.

VINEYARDS AND ROSES

VINEYARDS AND ROSES

I spent the day travelling to friends
A journey in sunshine and rain.
Travelled along gum lines roads ~
Saw sheep on endless plains.

I passed by many a shaded vineyard
And saw the roses sweet ~
The cultivated and manicured lawns,
The sweeping drives where people meet.

There seems to be a care of gardens
By those who tend the vines.
A pride that goes with all involved
In the making of these wines.

I know that it’s “companion planting”
To have the roses growing thus
But it also adds a beauty
And brings great pleasure to us.

Names of vineyards are clear to be seen
All along the roadside.
I found it lovely to be there
To really feel the pride.

This is Australia and I always take pride
Where majestic eucalypts abound
And under their shadows and shade ~
Vineyards and roses are found.

GIFT OF LIFE GARDEN

GIFT OF LIFE GARDEN

I sat today in a garden
That is filled with many trees
It was a hot and steamy morning
With barely a gentle breeze.
Many other people had gathered
To pause, give thanks and reflect
To celebrate the gift of life
With dignity and great respect.

Families had gathered there
To quietly set time aside
There was warmth and friendship
And emotions they could not hide.
A donor family member spoke and shared
Her story of pain and grief;
A grateful recipient shared his story
Of gladness and great relief.

A rose was planted there today
For all the world to view
A tribute to those who cared and gave
This rose is named  "Thank You."
It is a sincere tribute to donors everywhere
Whose gift gives a second chance
For those who receive to live and love
To play and run and dance.

This garden's in a busy part of town
With a flight path overhead
Buses, people, trams and cars
All noisy as they swiftly sped.
It touched my heart to be there
And in spite of this world's troubles
Little children were quietly playing
And chasing pretty bubbles.

I thought of my donor
The man who gave me life,
I thought today of his family
I gave thanks for his special wife.
I remember him each and every day
And I quietly wiped a tear
Without this wonderful gift of life
I most certainly would not be here.

It's the perfect spot for this garden ~
A garden so beautifully placed
Gift of Life Garden it's name
A cherished and special place.
The noise and the hustle and bustle
Of the city's daily strife
Go on around this garden
And we celebrate the gift of LIFE.

I am constantly moved by the position of this Garden - it is right in the middle of life and that's what Organ and Tissue donation is all about.

RAIN

RAIN

It has been grey and overcast
Throughout this entire day.
And rain has fallen
In the nicest possible way.

There was no wind to drive and blow
And make the day feel bad.
Just a lovely quiet and gentle rain
The kind I am sure you’ve had.

There are puddles everywhere
And I know for certain
These rain drops were falling for me
Like a silver bead curtain.

I looked at the drops on the petals fair
Of the roses in wintertime bloom.
I knew their beauty would soon pass
Like the shadows from the moon.

I looked at the soft green blades of grass
On the lawn just recently mown.
And I saw the flowers now in bloom
From the seeds that I had sown.

I smelled the rich earth and I saw
The promise of Nature’s hand
I saw it all in my garden today
And  for me it was truly grand.

Rain on the leaves of the gum trees,
Rain on the Norfolk Island Pine.
I looked at these and was thankful
That this beauty here was mine.

THE ROSE FAIRY - something whimsical

ROSE FAIRY

Sometime in early morning
When your garden’s is sun kissed,
Take a look around you
And you will see me in the mist.

I am the gentle Rose Fairy
You will see me everywhere,
With soft and velvet petals
And dewdrops in my hair.

I have dresses of many colours
And a fragrance very sweet,
I am here to keep you company
And scatter petals at your feet.

My wings are made of cobwebs
And look like perfect lace,
I move through your garden
With dignity and grace.

So if you look around your garden
And feel the morning dew,
Then you should know The Rose Fairy
Has been to visit you.
