PETALS AND PEARLS

PETALS AND PEARLS

I have watched the roses bloom
And smelled the fragrance sweet,
I have enjoyed days and times
With wings upon my feet.
Days of sunshine and brightness,
With music in the air.
A string of pearls around my neck ~
And I hardly knew a care.

I’ve seen the seasons come and go
And the roses fade away.
The pearls still remained
And oft brought joy to my day.
Winter time with roses bare
Waiting for spring to arrive
Tiny buds upon the bush
Hope was still alive.

Warmer days with brighter skies
The petals showed their bloom,
Still the pearls held their glow
And chased away my gloom.
Sunshine and shadow, laughter and tears
Are the memories stirred for me.
The Petals and pearls and the one
Who gave these things to me.

THE GARDEN GATE

THE GARDEN GATE

The gate is always open
Come through it with me
Let's find a special place
Where we can really be free.
Let's put aside our troubles
And the fear of beginning to trust
Take my hand and come with me
On a journey which is a must.

Through that gate of friendship
We will find such very special things
The joy of love and laughter
And a heart that really sings.
We will find warmth and comfort
And arms that hold us near
Shelter from the storms of life
And we will hold no fear.

This is a special garden
And acceptance will be found,
Abundant tears we will shed
From hearts strong and sound.
Tender smiles from eyes of blue
A dimple on a cheek
A tendril of hair gently brushed aside
Such kindness we will seek.

We'll watch the mists of evening gather
And be wrapped in their care
We will see the birds settle ~
Silence everywhere.
The gentle brook will babble
As it goes on it's merry way
A special place to visit
A place we'll want to stay.

The garden is our very own
And tended with love and care
Flowers of friendship blossoming ~
Fragrance everywhere.
We will watch the seasons come and go
Take courage and strength from it all
A special place of joy and hope
Behind the garden wall.

FINDING JOY IN THE JOURNEY

JOY IN THE JOURNEY

Please don't visit me in my past
For I don't live there anymore.
I am moving forward
Life is different than before.
I dwell in possibility
With hope as companion and friend
There is joy in the journey for me
As I travel round every bend.

I find joy in the simplest of things
A bird on the wing and a flower small,
Daffodils in springtime
A rose beside the wall.
I will not live in shadowed halls
And I turn my face to the sun
Then the shadows are behind me
And half my battle is won.

The pathway may be rugged
And my steps may falter and fall
But there are friends who journey with me
And hear me when I call.
I have been a bird with a broken wing
And feel that now I'm healed
I rise and soar and fly free
My destiny is sealed.

I share my smiles as I travel on
The song in my heart can be heard
There is  such joy in my journey
And I thank you that you cared.
Cared enough to encourage me
And dared me to stand tall
You have been my safety net
To catch me when I fall.

The energy that I exude is positive
And attracts positive things to me
People say I'm looking well ~
There is joy in my journey you see.
So much for me to see and share
Days are different than before
Please don't visit me in my past
For I don't live there any more.

THE LAST ROSE OF SUMMER

THE LAST ROSE OF SUMMER

A long hot summer now is fading
And chill is in the air
I walked today in my garden
And saw changes everywhere.

A sweet and fragrant rose
Dropped its petals as I passed
The beauty now has faded
Of course it could not last.

I touched the velvet petals
And somehow thought of you
I sensed your time of struggle
The effort to get through.

Keep your eyes upon the hedgerow
And not the thorns below
And you will see the rose
You will watch it grow.

You will smell the sweet perfume
It's petals you will touch
Just know that friends are out here
And that they care so much.
