HAPPY THOUGHTS

HAPPY THOUGHTS

Try to find joy around you
In all the little things,
And you will be surprised
At the measure of joy it brings.

See the glass half full,
The blossoms in the spring,
The diamond dewdrop on the rose,
The bird upon the wing.

Play with a child and learn again
That life is full of fun.
Splash in the puddles ~
Feel the warmth of the sun.

Smile at a stranger and you will find
Your smile will cheer his day.
Listen to music and sing along
As you go along your way.

Our positive thoughts affect our day,
Our lives and those we meet,
Dance in the moonlight
With wings upon your feet.

Stretch your wings and dare to be
A positive caring soul,
And the joy you spread as you go along
Will help you to be whole.

THOUGHTS ON MY CHILDREN

THOUGHTS ON CHILDREN

My children when I look at you
And see how much you've grown,
It takes me back in memory
To the best days I have known.
You were wanted and planned for
And I struggled to give you birth,
No greater joy has ever been mine
The sweetest days on earth.

I held your tiny hands in mine
And looked into your eyes,
Very protective I became
I should give me no surprise,
Each stage you went through
Was learning for me too
I tried so very hard
To do the best for you.

I painted and cooked with you
And let you walk in the rain,
We often splashed in puddles
These days would not come again.
We sang sweet songs and nursery rhymes
We read books by the score,
I see you now tucked up in bed
If I peep through memory's door.

I hear the funny things you said
And see the funny things you'd do,
I remember oh so much of childhood days
With sport, lessons and the music too.
I watched with pride as you graduated
Cap and gown ~ my pride worn on my sleeve
I knew that they were coming
The days when you would leave.

And now you are established
Settled down and happy too
You work very hard in life
And I'm so proud of you.
It is another hand you reach for
And love shines in your eyes
May love and laughter live for you
Under clear blue skies.

I watch you now as you sit down to eat
A glass of wine in your hand,
I hear your deep discussions on life
And the things that you have planned.
You have brought such joy to me
And I take joy like no other
That life was very kind to me
And I am your loving Mother.

RAIN

RAIN

It has been grey and overcast
Throughout this entire day.
And rain has fallen
In the nicest possible way.

There was no wind to drive and blow
And make the day feel bad.
Just a lovely quiet and gentle rain
The kind I am sure you’ve had.

There are puddles everywhere
And I know for certain
These rain drops were falling for me
Like a silver bead curtain.

I looked at the drops on the petals fair
Of the roses in wintertime bloom.
I knew their beauty would soon pass
Like the shadows from the moon.

I looked at the soft green blades of grass
On the lawn just recently mown.
And I saw the flowers now in bloom
From the seeds that I had sown.

I smelled the rich earth and I saw
The promise of Nature’s hand
I saw it all in my garden today
And  for me it was truly grand.

Rain on the leaves of the gum trees,
Rain on the Norfolk Island Pine.
I looked at these and was thankful
That this beauty here was mine.
