SWEETEST OF DAYS

THE SWEETEST OF DAYS

Bring me the sunset in a cup
And let it overflow.
Bring me the sweetest of days
That I will ever know.

Bring me love in your eyes
And kindness in your smile.
Let me feel you walk beside me
Every step of every mile.

Let me hear your laughter
And feel your tender touch.
Let me hear the words you say ~
That you love me very much.

Bring me the dewdrop from the rose,
Bring me the tears from your eyes.
Let me hold you closely
Under clear blue open skies.

Bring me a newborn baby
And place it in my arms.
Let me love and cherish it
And keep it safe from harm.

Bring me memories of days gone by
When love itself would grow
Bring me sunset in a cup
And let it overflow.

TODAY

TODAY

Today is picture perfect
The sky is a gentle blue
Just the special type of day
To spend some hours with you.
Let's sit beside the river
And watch the ripples as they flow
Onward and forward they travel
To where we cannot know.

Let's find some shade from the sun
And feel the gentle breeze,
Treasured memories are gathered
On Autumn days like these.
Let's whisper deepest secret thoughts
Discussion without fears,
Let's laugh and talk and ponder
Let's wipe away the tears.

Autumn leaves we can gather
And release them on the flow
Just like our innermost thoughts
Who knows where they will go.
Will they bounce up the crest
Or be taken down below
Will our shared thoughts be deep ~
Only we can ever know.

Let's drag sticks through the water
And find some leafy glade,
A special time of friendship
We'll be glad that we have stayed.
We will remember the sunshine
The shade and the trees,
We will remember today
And the making of memories.

So when the shadows lengthen
And there is a coolness in the air,
The pain of ending this rendezvous
Will be much too much to bear.
But as days go hastening on
And the seasons change once more,
We can always revisit this day
By stepping through memory's door.

SUNSHINE AND SHADOWS

SUNSHINE AND SHADOWS

A winter sun was shining
I'd come here to find release
Sitting alone in the quiet
I hoped to find some peace.

I watched as the shadows lengthened
And the afternoon grew late,
I heard the birds on their way to roost
I heard a creaking gate.

I saw the shadows being cast
My heart was heavy and still
I stayed a little longer
In the late afternoon chill.

My steps were heavy
And my heart was sore
As I left this quiet building
And gently closed the door.

I headed home to where I knew
A welcome I would find.
Warmth and comfort there for me
Someone being kind.

I realized as I walked my path
That peace comes from within my heart
I did not need to go seeking it
It was there at the very start.

WINTER SUNSHINE

WINTER SUNSHINE

I love the winter sunshine
Without the fierce heat,
I love it when the shadows
Make pictures at my feet.

The walks beside the river
With trees reflected there,
Glistening ripples on the water,
Days without a care.

The winter sunshine brings
 Contentment to my days,
The outlines of the bare trees
Etched by sunshine’s rays.

The rising of the winter sun
Chasing away the mist,
The dewdrops on the cold grass ~
The world is sunshine kissed.

I love the winter sunshine,
And the promise that it brings,
Sunshine silhouettes gleaming
Oh how my heart sings!

SUNSHINE YELLOW

© Keen to be Seen

SUNSHINE YELLOW

Yellow is the sunshine
On days when skies are clear,
Fluffy little ducklings
Walking without fear.

Bananas growing on the vine
Lemons on the tree,
Golden and delicious apples
Picked especially for me.

Fresh eggs collected from the hens
With sunshine yellow yolks
Wheat ripening in the fields
Brings special joy to folks.

Daffodils in springtime
Pure magic to my soul,
Special blossoms in my garden
Making me feel whole.

A candle flame at evening
A rose whose name is "Peace"
Yellow brings to me such joys
I hope will never cease.

Petula Clark - Colour My World

"Oh, you can colour my world with sunshine yellow each day!
Oh, you can colour my world with happiness all the way!"
