HAPPY THOUGHTS

HAPPY THOUGHTS

Try to find joy around you
In all the little things,
And you will be surprised
At the measure of joy it brings.

See the glass half full,
The blossoms in the spring,
The diamond dewdrop on the rose,
The bird upon the wing.

Play with a child and learn again
That life is full of fun.
Splash in the puddles ~
Feel the warmth of the sun.

Smile at a stranger and you will find
Your smile will cheer his day.
Listen to music and sing along
As you go along your way.

Our positive thoughts affect our day,
Our lives and those we meet,
Dance in the moonlight
With wings upon your feet.

Stretch your wings and dare to be
A positive caring soul,
And the joy you spread as you go along
Will help you to be whole.

MY MORNING

MY MORNING

I watched the dawn this morning
And felt some peace and calm,
I felt the velvet wings of morning
Shelter me from harm.

I listened to the quiet this morning
And found some sweet release,
I heard the birds’ first songs
And I felt the world at peace.

I watched the sunrise this morning
And saw an artist’s hand,
I saw the paint upon the canvas
And the way that it is planned.

I saw the dew upon the rose this morning
And walked on dew kissed grass,
I knew these early morning delights
Would very quickly pass.

I offered up my thanks this morning
From a heart that knows some fears,
I experienced the miracle of morning
And quietly wiped away my tears.

I watched the dawn this morning
And saw so many things
I gathered strength this morning
For whatever my day brings.

THE ART OF MORNING

"If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there shall thy hand lead me and thy right hand shall hold me." Psalm 139: 9, 10

THE ART OF MORNING

I have been awake since early
As sleep eluded me,
So I got up and settled here
And made a cup of tea.

Too early for the paper
Or to phone a friend to talk.
Too early for so many things,
Too early for a walk.

I felt the cool of morning,
Saw the waking of the world
I saw the glory of the sunrise ~
Morning’s flag gently unfurled.

I heard the chorus of the birds
As they woke so rested.
Saw the flutter of a leaf
On a tree where they had nested.

I listened to the waking world
On a day so fresh and new.
I saw the orange wisp of clouds
On a sky now faintly blue.

I saw this new beginning
And felt blessed to be a part
Of this very special showing
Of Mother Nature’s art.

IMAGINATION

IMAGINATION

Imagination does not just belong
In the minds of children young.
There are those of us who like to see
And to feel that we belong.

A friend was the artist here
And I the writer true.
We spent some time together
And painted this picture for you.

We crossed a bridge from a town
And felt the breezes soft and sweet.
Clear blue skies were here
We felt it such a treat.

A roadside stall with fruit galore
Oranges and Apples mellow.
And honey sweet plums
All purple and yellow.

An Artist’s easel all set up
In the shade of a welcoming tree.
A stream running by with water clear ~
This is the picture we see.

Pebbles here all rounded and worn
And larger ones near the edge.
Some of them have a hint of moss
And act just like a little ledge.

We can smell the blossoms
And hear the bird’s sweet singing.
Storm clouds gather here
And the tiny birds are winging.

We discuss the rain to come
At the ending of the day.
The washing and the refreshing –
It’s mother natures way.

Together we walk back
And leave the picture true.
We reflect and wonder ~
The way that Artists do.

We come back to the real world
More peaceful and serene.
Refreshed and restored
By the things that we have seen.

We have shared a symphony
Of music of the mind
And I am certain that it is
The best music you can find.
